Albie Week!!! / Wednesday, November 29, 2006

After weeks of anticipation, Albie finally arrived to Brisbane. In the midst of all my exams, here's something to look forward to.

Friday
He arrived on Friday night, right after my Chemistry exam. We were both weren't tired so we bummed around, and played StepMania and LittleFighter on my computer.

Saturday
The next day, we went to DreamWorld. Olivia couldn't come because she needed to study, so we didn't go to SeaWorld after all. Albie drove (the car ride was really smooth too) and Gold Coast was closer than I thought it would be, especially with Albie driving at 140 :P Pity we couldn't get in touch with Joseph up there, because I lost his mobile phone number :(

First thing we did in DreamWorld was go see the tigers. Actually, we went to The Tower Of Terror first. The day we went was very un-crowded, so the lines were fairly short. A 10 line-up, a 10 second ride. Seems the older you get, the more unimpressive theme parks become. But the tigers were kool :P There were two gold and one white Bengal tigers. They did some tricks, and the white one, being the older one, was a little more choosy about which tricks it would do. After the first trick or so it ignored everyone and just sat XP hehe, like me. Me and Alb worked out the best photo strategies: 1. Albie reaches over the top of everyone in the front to take photos, or 2. I jump on him in a piggy-back and take the photo :) whichever works.

Food in theme parks is like food in airports, disgustingly expensive and expensively disgusting. I wanted to watch a show on snakes, so we bought the food and kidnapped the tray, and went to look for the show, but by the time we got there the show had finished, and we didn't really want to go in a place full of animals with a tray of food.

Inside there were random kangaroos hopping about, scruffy bunch. We went to the snake house, but most of it was closed under construction, so we looked at all the sleepy snakes and lizards outside. We saw the trees of koalas, sleepy things, just like Koala :P I wanted to cuddle a koala but it costed $4 so I couldn't be bothered. Don't you think koalas should have soft fur? I mean just looking at it makes you think they have soft fluffy fur, but in reality..... and they stink. Haha as Albie said, "because all Koala does is sleep, all the energy goes to making his hair soft" XP (the picture is a ninja koala - doesn't it look like it's just about to pull out a sword/stick and suddenly fell asleep?)

And then we went to the birdwalk, an open area for birds to fly around with a net at the top so they don't fly away. There were a few weird looking birds and a sleepy Tasmanian Devil in a log. Then we went into the nocturnal house where there were a few owls and such, some possums, and a very ninja sugar glider. It was the smallest sugar glider, and it was the fastest little thing I'd ever seen.

After coming out from the Australian Wildlife we went to the Wiggles Farmyard right next door. The little lamb was sooooooo soft and furry ^____^ And for some reason there were two llamas as well (has anyone ever had llama meat before?).

Then we went to the area with all the rides in it. Albie really liked the Claw and we went on it twice. The first few swings made a really comfortable sensation, like rocking on a boat or a swing. When we came off we felt pretty dizzy, but it was quite fun. Then we went on the Vortex (aka Gravitron) twice, so Alb could take a photo of me upside down. Haha we came out feeling a bit sick, so we just sat outside for a while. If a drunk person went into the Vortex, would he come out twice as drunk, or completely undrunk? (Albie surfing upside down!!!! XD)

After a bit, we went to the iMax Theatre to watch a show on Bears. The introduction was really kool, of the constellation of Ursa moving around and coming down to Earth. It was really quite interesting, with cute footage of baby bears and other bears. In addition to the comfortable seats and air-conditioning, we were quite content to just stay put. Since the Icecream parlor was right next door, we had icecream too!! After that we went on some more rides, like the Cyclone (rollercoaster) and Wipeout (essentially a machine that spins you around). The Cyclone was alright, not amazingly good. And the Wipeout hurt because the harnesses weren't on tight enough it bounced you around a bit. I was more concentrating on staying in the chair than the ride spinning me around. It started slowing down back to the start and Albie said "hmm, end of the ride." Then it suddenly flipped us backwards and the funniest thing of the day was Albie yelling "Ow my groin!!!!" I laughed for the remainder of the ride, and I think the machine operator thought I was a bit weird but hey XD (For all of you who don't find it funny, it was a you-had-to-be-there moment) :P

Soon it was nearly closing time and so we rushed over to the Giant Drop for one last ride. It took you up...and up...and up....and up... You couldn't look up and you couldn't look down, but you had quite a nice view. It was the suspense that was the scariest thing. It kept us up there for what felt like ages, although it was probably less than a minute. Everyone felt scared up there, haha even Albie said he wanted to go home XP You know in Giant Drops during the first second of it going down it feels like you're floating? Well, this one didn't have that particular feature. Straight down....and end. When I got off the back of my pants were soaked, probably because the guy before had gotten wet from the Log Ride.

My frozen coke shop was closed, so we slowly made our way to the exit as well. I went inside the Tiger merchandise shop, and really wanted to buy this toy tiger, but then didn't have enough money. We left with Churros @^__^@ Yup and that was the end of our day. Albie got home and spent half an hour putting sticky tape around two 5c coins so it would be the same size as a two dollar coin, and couldn't wait to try it out on an unsuspecting vending machine, since it didn't work on the vending machines in DreamWorld.

Sunday
The last day of Albie's playtime in Brisbane because he had to work. We went to the city and played DDR with Chris and Olivia. Haha I spent the whole day (actually the whole week) vainly trying to get him to be ticklish, and jumping on him for piggy-back rides XP We played 20 minutes of pool, then watched Borat at the cinemas. To those people who want to watch it, it's funny, in a really sick way. Afterwards Liv went to work and the three of us went back to my house, where we watched The Departed. The intro was 20 minutes, and by that time I had fallen asleep and Chris was playing on his Nintendo DS. So we all gave up really trying to watch and played on his DS. According to that it says I have a brain age of 25 !!! V(^_^)V We ordered pizza from Pizza Hut and watched the Japanese movie of Death Note. It was alright. And then an episode of Family Guy and Chris had to go home.

Monday
I got a lift to school, did my ITS exam, it went alright. Did nothing, went home. Then spent half the night procrastinating from studying for my maths exam. We opened a big packet of chips and between us we finished it (although I probably ate more than him) hehe I was trying to get him to eat more and more XP We played a few games of some form of Pictionary (draw pictures for the other person to guess the movie), but I hadn't seen most of the movies Albie drew. Then a few games of hangman - I was two words short of using the entire alphabet on a word, and it was only four letters long too T_T A few more games of Mr Squiggle, then I went to study. Albie gave me a crash course in solving maximum and minimum problems, and he probably thinks I'm so stupid because it took me about three hours to do six problems :P

Tuesday
We were both tired from the late night, and my test was in the morning. I reckon I did a little better than last term, but still not that optimistic about the results. Everyone came out of the exam relieved and happy that exams were over. I spent the rest of the day reading, then went home. Chris came over and had dinner, and we just bummed around for the night.

Wednesday
Albie's last morning!!!! I gave him a picture that I drew *cough* traced :P and he gave me an official copy of Thank God You're Here!!! Hehe I'll be watching that XD Arigatou Albie!!! He drove me to school for the last time (T_T)/~

First two periods of school was year assembly, of which I slept through half of it, and then I went to Sister and slept for the rest of it. During morning tea I came back home and here I am! Albie's plane leaves for Melbourne in about 10 minutes right now, BAI ALBIE!!! MISS YOU LOTS ALREADY!!!! Safe trip!
